When I went back to school, suddenly my life changed. I had been a backpacker and wilderness guide with at risk teens for about 8 years. Hiking between 3-10 miles a day will keep you thin and fit – no problem!
But, when I went back to school, it was a different story. Maybe you’ve even heard my cookie story – yes in Portland, I was studying, craving cookies all the time, and I went up in size- 4 sizes and 40 lbs. I felt sluggish and fat, and I was down on myself for having gained the weight.
Then, by using the tools of NLP, and Self-Hypnosis (from which I created the audio set), I began to change my relationship to food. I understood and identified reasons for craving the wrong things, I stopped the senseless snacking, stress eating, and comfort eating.
Don’t fear food – food is fun!
I’ve trained my brain to prefer healthy foods, I can still enjoy and indulge in sweets, chocolate, wine, but my body knows its limits and I don’t worry about counting calories!
I eat mostly healthy, but I still indulge. And, I’m not perfect – I don’t eat like a rabbit, I still eat cookies now and then, but not compulsively like before. (I could finish off a whole bag of cookies in one sitting, but now I’m good with just eating a couple). My body knows when to say no. I’ll eat a couple bites of chocolate and then I am just done. It’s easy to walk away.
I am now a size 6 and I easily maintain it by paying attention to what my body wants or doesn’t want. I rarely overeat (except for Thanksgiving). Weight Loss doesn’t have to be hard and painful.
In fact, if your approach is hard and painful, chances are you won’t be able to keep it up and in a few months you’ll be right back where you started from! Weight loss is about finding the small and easy changes that are healthy and that you can live with for the rest of your life.
