Yep, this is me in the before- after photo. When I quit working as a backpacker wilderness guide, I went back to school and life changed. I sat in classrooms and read books instead of hiking mountains and I gained 40 pounds!
Luckily at the same time I was finishing my Bachelor’s in Psychology degree, I also Certified as an Neuro-Linguistic Programming Coach and Hypnotherapist.
Hypnosis is well-known for changing habits like stop smoking and weight loss. So I applied the skills and tools to myself, I released the extra weight and I developed the A Lighter You Hypnosis Weight Loss System.
I now teach, train and certify other Hypnotherapists in my program that unlocks the power of your mind to bring health and vitality to your body. What are mental blocks or unconscious programs?
Mental blocks are old thoughts that were repeated enough until they became part of your automatic operating system or your mind. We pick them up through the course of our history, and then as they are repeated, they become a default program.
We have mental programs about who we are and how the world works. We also have mental programs about weight loss, healthy eating and exercise, what weight means, and what it means about us.
Weight loss is not the same for everyone. We are all unique and we all have unique programs. These mental blocks are responsible for cravings, lack of motivation and self sabotage – where you know what to do, but you just can’t make yourself follow through.
If you want to win the war with weight, you simply must address these unconscious programs.
These mental programs are usually picked up when we are children and as we repeat them, the unconscious mind then takes it on as an automatic operating program.
Consciously you may know that it’s not true. But your unconscious mind can still be running the old program. It’s an underlying feeling that takes away from your triumphs, keeps you craving and fighting yourself.
It’s not enough to disbelieve it. If it’s running in your unconscious mind, it’s already automatic. And it helps to know that they are there. But it doesn’t change you. You still experience the struggle. ‘I know I shouldn’t be thinking this,’ but there’s the thought. Or I know I shouldn’t be feeling this, but there’s the feeling.
Have you tried affirmations? They feel good for the moment you say them, but then your brain goes right back to its old habits and the unconscious programs take over. And often when you say them it just feels like you are lying.
This goes way beyond positive thinking, it’s about Rewiring your Brain out of the Mental Blocks.
We all have mental blocks that we’ve accumulated through life. It’s just old thinking, ideas about who we are and how life works.
The mental blocks that are problematic are negative thoughts, feelings and attitudes about ourselves and our bodies. We especially have them around weight, health, foods and exercise.
These mental blocks cause us to overeat, they cause us to criticize ourselves and even feel bad about our bodies. But, with NLP- Hypnosis, we can change all that. Yes we can!
Difficulties with weight are compounded by stress. When we are stressed, we eat more sugar foods, convenience and junk foods.
Stress makes cravings and weight issues worse!
But stress has a double whammy. When we get stressed, the body releases stress hormones, epinephrine, adrenaline and cortisol. The body is physically responding to what we think about. Hormones are the communicators and regulators in our bodies. They regulate satiation, fullness, awakeness, alertness, pretty much everything runs by hormones. Hormones also work opposite each other, so when some hormones are high – it causes other hormones to be low.
Over time this can actually result in hormonal imbalances, stress weight gain, insulin resistance and lowered metabolism.
